The University of Pécs was ranked 140th on the list of UI GreenMetric University Ranking comparing 719 higher education institutions from all over the world. The press release published on 19 December 2018 in Depok, Indonesia shows that with 39 places better than last year, the University of Pécs is the second “greenest” university of Hungary according to this ranking.

The University of Pécs held a Ceremonial Senate Meeting on 8 November 2018. celebrating the Day of Hungarian Science. At the Meeting, two new honorary doctor have been inaugurated, and university awards and honours have been conferred as well.

The Hungarian government launched the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship programme five years ago. Thanks to that, this year there are more than seven thousand international students studying in Hungary. Every fourth international student of the University of Pécs is studying here with the Stipendium Hungaricum. However, among the higher education institutions of Hungary, we are the only one hosting a special welcome event for the newly arrived scholarship students, giving them a great time and an opportunity to get to know each other. The University of Pécs organized the Stipendium Gala for the third time, in the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter on 26 October 2018. The moderator of the event was Péter Árvai, deputy director of the Centre for Internationalization and Connections.

The Times Higher Education international ranking placed the University of Pécs to the prestigious 401-500 place in two categories. According to the list of the London-based company, the University of Pécs belongs to the TOP 500 universities of the world in clinical, pre-clinical and health sciences, as well as in life sciences, furthermore it is the strongest higher education institution in Hungary outside Budapest.

The London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) company has published its latest international university ranking on 30 October, comparing emerging Eastern European universities and the leading 450 study destinations of Central Asia. 10 different indicators have been assessed for this year’s ranking, including academic and employer reputation and the research impact of each university. The University of Pécs ranked 53rd, by climbing 10 places since last year.

Richard Shuster from Dallas (Texas, USA) was a participant of the Hungarian Language and Culture Summer University organized by the International Studies Center (ISC) of the Medical School in summer 2018. He shared his experience at the University of Pécs.

The Senate of Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biala Podlaska (Poland) conferred the prestigious Honoris Causa Title upon Dr. Pongrác Ács associate professor, vice-dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Director of the Institute of Physiotherapy and Sport Sciences. 

The Botanical Garden of the University of Pécs invites you to its „Autumn in the Botanical Garden” with extra opening hours on 2-3 November, from 10 am to 4 pm.

Mónika Galambosné Tiszberger, assistant professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Pécs has always been interested in statistics, she worked at the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, at Eurostat, then she came back to the University of Pécs to teach. She has three children, she had been the president of the Student Benefits and Dormitory Committee, she also participates in different project works, she is mentoring students. Her hobby is patchwork. She holds free workshops about time management at the Faculty of Business and Economics. I asked her to give some tips about time management that could be useful for students. The main focus: how to use our time more efficiently?
